Plumber in Swan View, Midvale, Bellevue and surrounds

Midvale was laid out in the early 1950s on the old Helena Vale racecourse, much of it as State Housing, and Koongamia started life as a State Housing Commission suburb too. Up the slope, Swan View sits on the edge of the Darling Scarp against John Forrest National Park.

The short answer

Yes, McDermott Plumbing covers Swan View, Midvale, Stratton, Jane Brook, Koongamia, Bellevue, Red Hill and Hazelmere for licensed plumbing and gas: burst pipes, blocked drains, hot water, leak detection and gas fitting. Call (08) 6187 3999 or text 0406 882 648. From Ellenbrook it’s a short run down past Midland, so we can often give a reasonable ETA.

Postwar housing below the scarp, bush above it

This pocket east of Midland mixes some of the area’s oldest public housing with hills-edge streets. Midvale and Koongamia were built as State Housing, and a lot of Midvale was later redeveloped under the Eastern Horizons project, so you get original 1950s–60s homes next to rebuilt ones. Swan View runs from the Eastern Railway up to John Forrest National Park, with the old railway line now the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail along its southern edge. Bellevue sits at the foot of Greenmount and is cut through by Roe Highway, and Hazelmere goes from houses at the Guildford end to rural and industrial land by the airport. From our Ellenbrook base it’s a straightforward run south past Midland.

What we see around Swan View and Midvale

Older public housing, hills blocks and light industry each bring their own jobs:

  • Midvale and Koongamia: original 1950s–60s homes with older sewer laterals and supply pipes; rental turnover jobs like blocked toilets, leaking cisterns and dripping taps.
  • Swan View and Jane Brook: sloping blocks toward the scarp, where long supply runs and stormwater can make leaks harder to trace — we follow the meter test before digging.
  • Bellevue: mixed older homes and small business near the highway and railway; tell us whether it’s a house or a business premises when you book.
  • Hazelmere: homes at the Guildford end, rural lots in the middle and industrial units toward Roe Highway — after-hours leaks on commercial sites are part of the mix.
  • Stratton and Red Hill: newer and older homes side by side, with hot water units of every age on outside walls.

Blocked drains on older eastern homes

On the original Midvale and Koongamia streets, a slow or blocked toilet is often a root-invaded or cracked lateral rather than something flushed. The property sewer up to the Water Corporation connection is the owner’s job, and for rentals the landlord’s. We clear it, tell you what we found, and report it if the problem is in Water Corporation’s main. Sewage overflowing on the property: call Water Corporation on 13 13 75 as well as us.

Common questions

Which suburbs around Swan View and Midvale do you cover?
Swan View, Midvale, Stratton, Jane Brook, Koongamia, Bellevue, Red Hill and Hazelmere, plus Midland itself. For Greenmount, Darlington or further up into the hills, call (08) 6187 3999 with the address and we’ll say yes or no straight away.
Why do older Midvale homes get so many blocked drains?
Many were built in the 1950s and 60s, and older sewer laterals of that age can crack or let roots in at the joints. We clear the blockage and tell you whether the pipe looks like it needs repair or just the occasional clear.
How quickly can you get to Swan View from Ellenbrook?
It’s one of our shorter runs: down past Midland and up toward the scarp. We still give you a real ETA based on where we are when you call.
Do you work on rentals in Koongamia and Midvale?
Yes. We do repairs for landlords and property managers. Send the tenant’s contact and access details when you book, and we’ll report back on what we found and fixed.
Do you do commercial plumbing in Hazelmere?
Yes, for licensed plumbing and gas on small commercial and industrial units — leaks, amenities and hot water. Tell us about access hours and who meets us on site.
