A CCTV drain inspection puts a camera on a push rod into the pipe so we can see what is causing the blockage and how far along the line it is. McDermott Plumbing uses it for repeat blockages, suspected tree roots, a check after hydro jetting, and before a renovation when you need to know what the drain is doing. The camera shows the problem in the pipe; we don’t promise USB footage, a written report pack, pipe locating or relining. Based in Ellenbrook, we cover Perth north of the river and the western suburbs to Mosman Park. Call (08) 6187 3999 or text 0406 882 648. More on our drains work is on the McDermott Drains page.
Typical jobs
- Repeat blockages that come back after a clear
- Finding where tree roots enter an older sewer
- Checking the line after hydro jetting
- Seeing whether a joint has dropped, cracked or shifted
- Confirming a foreign object or fat build-up before the next step
What to expect
- 1We access the line from an inspection shaft, gully or another suitable point and push the camera to the problem.
- 2You’ll get a clear explanation of what we can see: roots at a joint, grease, a crack, a dislocation, or debris — and roughly how far down the run it sits.
- 3That lets the next step aim at the right spot, including hydro jetting when scouring is what the line needs.
- 4We don’t offer pipe relining, excavation or electronic pipe locating as part of this service. If the fix needs something we don’t do, we say so.
Common questions
- What does a CCTV drain inspection show?
- What is in the pipe and roughly how far along: roots at a joint, a cracked or dropped section, fat build-up, or something that was flushed and shouldn’t have been.
- Do I get a video file or a written report?
- We use the camera to find the cause and explain what we see on site. We don’t promise USB footage or a formal written report pack.
- When is a camera better than just clearing the drain?
- When the same line keeps blocking, when we suspect roots or a broken section, after a heavy jet, or before you renovate and need to know the drain’s condition.
- Do you do pipe relining or excavation?
- No. We clear and inspect property drains and tell you the options. Relining, digging up a line or electronic locating is specialist work we’ll be honest about.
